The Shakespeare Hut

I co-wrote and directed this celebration of the opening of The Shakespeare Hut (a safe haven for New Zealand soldiers during WW1) for The Mustard Club at The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Though one of 40 such huts it was unique in memorialising an historical figure and in staging scenes, songs and lectures on Shakespeare often performed by leading actors from the West End. Using material from the YMCA, National Theatre and London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine archives, we created a dramatic re-enactment of the opening ceremony and a celebration of women playing Shakespeare, using professional actors and volunteers from the School.
