Bakunin – Tiger of Wrath

Staged by The New Factory of the Eccentric Actor at The Torriano Meeting House London in November 2014. This small-scale work with a cast of 15 explored the life of ‘the apostle of revolution’ Mikhail Bakunin.

The work explores his journey from young student radical visiting his parents and siblings in his childhood home in the province of Tver in the Russia of 1836, his journeys through revolutionary Europe in the 1840s and 50s, his time exiled in Siberia, travel to America and London, and finally his death in Lugano Switzerland in 1876.

He transformed anarchism from an obscure movement into a revolutionary creed.

I directed the production, from an original script by Penelope Dimond.
